Drona 2010 brings Mammootty together with action director Shaji Kailas for a supernatural thriller set around an old Kerala tharavad. Strange deaths and occult practices haunt the house and the family that owns it, and Mammootty, in a double role, is at the centre of a struggle in which black magic, rivalry over property and long-buried secrets are all tangled together. Navya Nair and Kaniha play the female leads. The film combines the brooding ancestral-mansion atmosphere of Malayalam horror with the star presence of a mass entertainer, and it is of interest to fans of both Mammootty and the director of The King and Aaraam Thampuran.
