A small-time thief, fleeing after a burglary goes wrong, takes refuge in an apartment complex and is seen by the residents in circumstances that make them believe he is a holy man. Rather than run, he plays along, and before long his followers, and the people looking to profit from them, are turning him into a full-fledged godman with an ashram and devotees. Keeping up the act, while also courting a young woman who sees through more than he would like, becomes the hardest job he has ever taken on. Released early in 2017, Dwaraka was Vijay Deverakonda's last film before his breakout with Arjun Reddy later that year. Prakash Raj and Murali Sharma provide strong support in this satire on fake godmen.
