A proud young couple separate soon after the birth of their twin daughters, each taking one girl and raising her without knowing much about the other. Years later the sisters run into each other, discover the truth, and decide to change places so that each can meet the parent she never knew, and perhaps reunite them. Child actor Neetu Singh, credited as Baby Sonia, plays both twins and steals the film; she later became a leading heroine of the 1970s. The film is a Hindi remake by the Madras duo Krishnan–Panju of their Tamil hit Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum, itself inspired by The Parent Trap. Lata Mangeshkar's "Bachche Man Ke Sachche", composed by Ravi, became a classic children's song.
