Rameswaram (2007)

A young Tamil man has fled the civil war in Sri Lanka and lives in a refugee camp on the island of Rameswaram, across the strait from the land he left. He falls in love with a local girl, played by Bhavana, whose family is wary of a man with no country and no future in India. Their romance unfolds against the hardships of camp life and the constant pull of the war back home, where many refugees long to return. Jiiva and Bhavana lead this romantic drama, one of the few Tamil commercial films of its time to centre on the lives of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu.
