Premante Idera ("this is what love is") is a 1998 Telugu romantic family drama starring Venkatesh and Preity Zinta. The story follows a young man who falls in love with a bright, spirited young woman during a family function, and the romance soon runs up against family pride, tradition and an old enmity that he must overcome with patience rather than force. It was directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee, who also made Bavagaru Bagunnara and Takkari Donga, and was the Telugu debut of Preity Zinta, released in the same year as her Hindi debut in Dil Se. Ramana Gogula's music, with its pop-influenced sound, was a big part of its appeal. A warm, songful romance from Venkatesh's family-hero years.
