In a Maharashtra village in the 1950s, Keshav, a gentle astrologer, owns a bright yellow bicycle that has been in his family for years. He cherishes it above everything and lends it to no one. When two petty thieves make off with it, they find that wherever they ride, villagers mistake them for Keshav's friends and greet them with warmth and trust, and the stolen cycle slowly starts to change the thieves themselves. Meanwhile Keshav sets off in search of it, and his own attachment is put to the test. Cycle is a quiet, good-hearted Marathi fable directed by Prakash Kunte, with Hrishikesh Joshi as Keshav and the comic pair of Priyadarshan Jadhav and Bhalchandra Kadam as the thieves. Its unhurried storytelling and period village setting are its main pleasures.
