Billa is the most wanted crime boss in the city. When he is fatally injured during a police chase, a senior officer hides his death and recruits Rajappa, a simple street entertainer who looks exactly like him, to take Billa's place and expose the gang from the inside. Rajappa must learn to walk, talk and threaten like a don, but the one man who knew the truth may not be able to protect him for long. Billa is the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster Don (1978), and it became one of the biggest hits of Rajinikanth's early career, helping cement his status as a superstar. It was itself remade in 2007 with Ajith Kumar, launching a new franchise.
