Chandi (2013)

Chandi is a 2013 Telugu action drama directed by V. Samudra and built around Priyamani, who plays the title role. As the name, one of the fierce forms of the goddess Durga, suggests, it is a mass film in which the heroine rather than the hero takes on powerful enemies. Veteran star Krishnam Raju, the original "Rebel Star" of Telugu cinema, and Tamil star Sarathkumar appear in important roles. The film came a few years after Priyamani won the National Award for Best Actress for the Tamil film Paruthiveeran, and it is one of the few action vehicles of that era built entirely around a Telugu heroine.
