Bala is a simple, innocent young man who has just landed a government job, and his family quickly arranges his marriage to Bhagya, a schoolteacher he genuinely likes. As the wedding approaches, a secret from his past surfaces: years earlier, he donated sperm to help a childless couple, and the consequences turn up at the worst possible time, throwing both families into an uproar. Swathi Muthyam ("Precious Pearl") is a gentle family comedy that uses its unusual premise for warm, situational humour rather than vulgarity. It marked the acting debut of Bellamkonda Ganesh, younger brother of Bellamkonda Sreenivas, and the solid supporting cast includes Rao Ramesh and Naresh.
