Ashiana (1952)

Ashiana, meaning 'a nest' or 'home', is a black-and-white Hindi romantic drama from 1952 that brings together Raj Kapoor and Nargis, the most celebrated screen couple of the era. Made outside Kapoor's own R. K. banner, it tells a story of love, separation and the search for a place to belong. The film's songs were composed by Madan Mohan in the early years of his career, before he became known as one of Hindi cinema's finest melodists. It is a lesser-known entry in the Raj Kapoor–Nargis filmography and of interest to fans of the pair and of classic film music.
