Aman and Kaaya are deeply in love and want to marry, but Kaaya's family carries a centuries-old curse: because of the sins of an ancestor, any daughter of the line who tries to marry meets a terrible end. Aman refuses to accept it, and with the help of a professor who studies the paranormal he goes looking for the source of the curse, which means confronting a vengeful spirit. Shaapit ("cursed") is one of Vikram Bhatt's supernatural thrillers, and it was the first leading role for singer Aditya Narayan, son of playback singer Udit Narayan, who also sang in the film. Shweta Agarwal made her Hindi debut as Kaaya.
