Hungama (2003)

Nandu and Anjali are strangers who have come to Mumbai to make something of themselves, and a convenient lie leads people to believe they are husband and wife. Living near them are Radheshyam Tiwari, a well-off but suspicious businessman, and his wife, whose marriage is already full of bickering. Add Jeetu, a rich young man who falls for Anjali on the strength of a misunderstanding, and a set of hangers-on with their own schemes, and every new lie demands two more. Each character ends up convinced of something completely wrong about the others. Hungama is a remake of Priyadarshan's own Malayalam comedy Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984) and became one of his signature Hindi hits. It was Rimi Sen's first Hindi film, and Paresh Rawal's jealous Radheshyam is among his most quoted comic roles. A sequel, Hungama 2, followed in 2021.
