Mathimaran joined the police to be a hero, but finds himself shuffling papers and guarding nothing in particular. When a young man from his neighbourhood is declared brain-dead under suspicious circumstances, Mathi starts digging and uncovers a racket that harvests organs from patients, protected by a powerful network. Teaming up with his senior officer and helped along by Divya, the young woman he is courting, he sets out to bring it down, armed with more nerve than experience. Kaaki Sattai ("khaki shirt") moved comic star Sivakarthikeyan into action-hero territory and was produced by Dhanush. Anirudh's songs, including 'Kadhal Kan Kattudhe', were chartbusters, and Hindi actor Vijay Raaz made a striking Tamil debut as the villain.
