Nandu is a professional killer who works alone. When a job to fire a staged shot at a politician goes wrong, the politician is killed and Nandu is set up to take the blame. On the run, he ends up in a village in Punjab, where a warm-hearted family mistakes him for a son who left home years ago, and he slips into the role while trying to work out who betrayed him. Close behind is a sharp, unflappable CBI officer played by Nana Patekar, whose verbal duels with the hero are the film's highlight. Ek is the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Athadu, starring Mahesh Babu, and pairs Bobby Deol with Shriya Saran, with songs by Pritam.
