Sridhar sees a girl on a train and is instantly smitten, but she slips away before he can learn who she is. As it happens, she has noticed him too. The two cross paths again and again without realising it, while college brings friendships, rivalries and another woman who is drawn to Sridhar, building to a series of near-misses and misunderstandings. Enakku 20 Unakku 18 ("I am 20, you are 18") was shot simultaneously in Telugu as Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu, and its youthful soundtrack is by A. R. Rahman. It brought together Tarun, then a young romantic star in Telugu, with Trisha and Shriya Saran early in their careers, and was produced by A. M. Rathnam.
