Jayakrishnan runs a small car-repair workshop in a Kerala village, cares for his mother and sister, and is quietly drowning in debt. When a property deal comes his way, he sees a way to set things right, but every step of the deal brings new hurdles: paperwork, middlemen, family pressures and people who are not quite what they seem. The tension builds slowly from ordinary troubles rather than villains or fights. Meppadiyan was the first film from Unni Mukundan's own production house and the debut of writer-director Vishnu Mohan, who won the National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director for it. Saiju Kurup and Indrans give strong supporting turns, and the film was a solid hit when it opened in January 2022.
