Dhanam (2008)

Dhanam is a 2008 Tamil drama built around Sangeetha, the actress of Pithamagan and Uyir, in the title role of a woman whose past makes society look down on her. Her marriage into a family brings acceptance that turns out to be conditional, and she has to fight superstition, prejudice and the people who want to use her. Prem plays the man in her life. The film is a serious social drama about how women are judged, carried by Sangeetha's strong, unglamorous performance.
