A widowed father who runs a business in Malaysia and his young son have drifted apart, each convinced the other does not understand him. A magical twist forces them to experience life from the other's side, and the comedy that follows gradually becomes a warm story about family and the bond between parent and child. Prabhu plays the father, and Kalidas Jayaram, son of the Malayalam star Jayaram and a former child actor, made his debut as a lead hero in this film. Kamal Haasan appears in a guest role, and D. Imman composed the music. Much of the film was shot in Malaysia, and the title, "fish curry and clay pot", refers to a traditional pairing that works best together.
