Priyamaana Thozhi ("beloved friend") is a gentle family drama by Vikraman, a director known for clean, sentimental films such as Poove Unakkaga and Vaanathaippola. Madhavan plays a young man whose closest friend since childhood is a woman, played by Sreedevi Vijayakumar, while Jyothika plays the woman he marries. The film is about whether a friendship between a man and a woman can survive the judgement of family and society, and what each of them is willing to sacrifice for the other's dreams. It is a soft, song-filled film in the style its director made popular.
