Amman Thayee (2018)

Amman Thayee ('mother goddess') is a 2018 Tamil devotional film directed by Chandrahasan, with Maria Juliana, Anbu and Saran. It belongs to the tradition of Tamil Amman films, in which the village mother goddess intervenes to protect a devoted woman from black magic and wicked people, with temple rituals, miracles and a serpent figure playing a part. The Hindi version, Naagmani Ki Taqat, plays up the serpent-gem angle. It is a small-budget film aimed at viewers who enjoy devotional fantasy.
