Two best friends are idle young men in a Karnataka village, more interested in mischief and chasing girls than in work. One of them falls for a spirited young woman, and much of the film is a sunny comedy of village life, friendship and banter. Then an unforeseen event shifts the mood, and the friends find themselves caught up in violence and loss. Drama is a Kannada film from Yogaraj Bhat, director of the blockbuster Mungaru Male, known for his witty dialogue and unconventional storytelling. It paired Yash and Radhika Pandit, who later married, and it gave Sathish Ninasam a breakthrough as the sidekick. Rebel star Ambareesh plays a memorable supporting role, and V. Harikrishna's songs were hits.
