Vijayadasami is the Telugu remake of the Tamil hit Sivakasi (2005), which starred Vijay. Kalyan Ram plays a hot-tempered welder living in the fireworks town of Sivakasi, cut off from his family for reasons he keeps to himself. He falls for a spirited young woman, played by Vedhicka, and the romance and comedy of the first half eventually lead him back to his home town, where a flashback reveals what drove him out and what his mother and sister have suffered since. The second half turns to family sentiment and confrontation with the powerful elder brother who wronged them, played by Sai Kumar. It is a classic mass entertainer of the period, with music by Srikanth Deva, who also scored the original.
