Bharat is a decent, upright bank employee in a small town in Madhya Pradesh who plays Ram every year in the local Ramlila. When he crosses a corrupt politician's men, a bizarre theft case leaves him saddled with a ceiling fan held as case property, and a policeman stationed at his home to guard it. Every step he takes to get justice runs into bribes, red tape and absurdity. Gali Gali Chor Hai is a satirical comedy about corruption in everyday India, directed by Rumi Jaffery, with songs by Anu Malik. Akshaye Khanna plays the hapless hero, supported by a strong cast of comic character actors.
