Ganga Sati (1979)

Ganga Sati was a medieval saint-poet from Saurashtra in Gujarat, whose devotional bhajans, many addressed to her disciple Panbai, remain part of the living folk tradition. This 1979 film tells her story as a devotional drama, with Padma Rani, a familiar face in Gujarati cinema, in the title role and Arvind Pandya, another Gujarati film veteran, in support. It follows her spiritual life, her devotion and the trials she faces, built around devotional songs.
