Vishnu Prasad is the kind of young man people look straight through: awkward, unsuccessful, scolded by his parents and ignored by Mohini, the neighbour he has adored for years. One day his wish to disappear comes true, and he finds that he has turned invisible. At first he uses the power for mischief and small revenge, then to get closer to Mohini, but the more he gets away with, the darker his games become. Gayab was the first film directed by Prawaal Raman, from Ram Gopal Varma's production house, and reworks the invisible-man idea as a story about loneliness and obsession. Tusshar Kapoor's turn as the unnoticed misfit was among the better-reviewed of his early roles.
