A young sculptor devoted to his art finds the inspiration he has been searching for in a beautiful, spirited girl who agrees to pose for him. Their bond deepens into love, but family pride, social prejudice and misunderstanding stand in the way. Veteran filmmaker V. Shantaram, of Do Aankhen Barah Haath and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, gave Jeetendra his first leading role here, opposite Shantaram's own daughter Rajshree. It was the start of a career that made Jeetendra one of the busiest leading men of the next two decades. The film is admired for its colour photography and its music by Ramlal, including the title song sung by the eminent classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar.
