Gemini runs a gang in north Chennai, and his war with the flamboyant rival don Teja keeps the city's police busy. When an honest senior officer, Singaperumal, makes it his mission to reform rather than simply jail the city's criminals, Gemini begins to wonder whether there is another life for him, especially after he falls for Manisha, a student who knows nothing of his world. Teja, however, has no intention of letting him leave quietly. Gemini was a major hit of 2002 and confirmed Vikram as a mass hero after Dhil and Dhool. Kalabhavan Mani's villain, who imitates animal noises and mimics people, became famous, and the song O Podu was a craze across Tamil Nadu. A Telugu version with Venkatesh followed the same year.
