Uma Devi is rich, proud and used to having her way, and she runs her family's factory with contempt for the men who work there. Raju, a cheerful, fearless new employee, refuses to bow to her and soon becomes the workers' champion. Their clashes grow so fierce that she marries him, hoping to humble him, only to find that Raju is far better at the game than she is, while scheming relatives plot against her father. Gharana Mogudu (the grand husband) is a classic Chiranjeevi mass entertainer, full of comedy, dance and swagger, and it was one of the biggest Telugu hits of its era. It is a remake of the Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu, and M. M. Keeravani's songs, especially Bangaru Kodipetta, are still hugely popular; that song was remixed in Magadheera in 2009.
