Ghatothkachudu (1995)

In this fantasy, the mighty Ghatotkacha, son of Bhima and the demon princess Hidimbi, finds his way into present-day life and becomes the guardian of a little girl who is in danger. His enormous size, magical powers and old-world ways make for plenty of comedy as he deals with modern people, while also giving the film its big set pieces of good overpowering evil. Veteran Kaikala Satyanarayana, famous for playing mythological characters, takes the title role, with comedian Ali and Roja in the cast. Director S. V. Krishna Reddy, known for family comedies, also composed the music. Ghatothkachudu was popular with families and children, mixing Mahabharata lore, special effects and humour.
