Anjooran, a stern patriarch who has forbidden his four sons to marry after his own wife left him, has been locked in a bitter feud with the household of Anappara Achamma for years. When his youngest son Ramabhadran falls for Achamma's granddaughter Malu, the young pair start a secret romance that sets off chaos in both homes, with brothers, cousins and servants all drawn into the war. Godfather is one of the most loved Malayalam comedies, written and directed by the duo Siddique-Lal. It ran in one Thiruvananthapuram theatre for over 400 days, a record for Malayalam cinema, and won the Kerala State Film Award for the most popular film. It was later remade in Hindi as Hulchul. Theatre veteran N. N. Pillai's Anjooran is legendary.
