As the Godavari bursts its banks in 1986 and villages vanish under the water, a small group of survivors cling to a floating platform through the night. While they wait for rescue, their stories unfold in flashback: a village rogue, the proud young woman who loves him, a feisty fisherwoman and a younger man, linked by love, jealousy and old grudges that now have to be faced. Gundello Godari, 'Godavari in the heart', was made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil and was produced by Lakshmi Manchu, who also acts in it. Its main attraction is the large-scale recreation of the real 1986 flood, and Ilaiyaraaja's music, which drew warm praise. Aadhi Pinisetty and Taapsee Pannu lead the cast, with Sundeep Kishan in support.
