Hanan (2004)

Hanan is a 2004 Hindi drama written and directed by Makrand Deshpande, best known as a theatre maker with an unconventional, often surreal style and as an actor in films such as Satya and Sarfarosh. He reunites here with his Satya colleague Manoj Bajpayee and with Sonali Kulkarni, an actress known for serious, art-house work, and appears in the film himself. Like much of Deshpande's work, it leans towards intense, experimental storytelling rather than mainstream entertainment, and will interest viewers who follow its actors and parallel cinema.
