Har Har Gange (1968)

Har Har Gange is a 1968 Hindi devotional film directed by Babubhai Mistry, the master of mythological cinema and special effects who made films such as Sampoorna Ramayana and Parasmani. With Abhi Bhattacharya, Jayshree Gadkar and Ashish Kumar, the stars of many mythologicals of the period, it draws on the legends of the sacred Ganga, its descent from the heavens and the power of faith and penance. It follows the classic pattern of the genre: gods and sages, trick photography, devotional songs and a moral struggle between good and evil, and it suits viewers who enjoy old-style religious cinema.
