Antony works as a stunt man in the Malayalam film industry, the man who jumps from buildings and takes the punches while the star gets the applause. He is proud of his craft and loyal to his master, a veteran stunt choreographer, but the industry treats men like him as disposable. When a powerful figure behind the scenes crosses him and the people he cares about, Antony has to bring his on-screen skills into a real fight. Prithviraj plays the lead with plenty of action, and the film was Yami Gautam's first Malayalam role. Hero pays tribute to the stunt artists of South Indian cinema, with its action set pieces built around film shoots, sets and the risky craft of doubling.
