Inspector Gullu (2012)

Inspector Gullu is a Hyderabadi comedy in the Deccani dialect starring Adnan Sajid Khan, who became a local star playing the swaggering comic character Gullu Dada, here in the role of a bumbling police inspector. Aziz Naser, another key figure of Hyderabad's small Deccani film scene, appears alongside him. The fun comes from Gullu's attempts to fight crime with more bluster than brains and from the rich, quick-fire Hyderabadi street humour that this regional cinema is known for. It belongs to the wave of low-budget Deccani comedies that built a loyal audience in Hyderabad and among the Hyderabadi diaspora from the mid-2000s onwards.
