Akhilan, a former agent of India's external intelligence service, left the job after a mission in which his wife, also an agent, was killed. When an old man attacks a police station in Malaysia with superhuman strength before dying, the trail leads to a drug called Speed, which turns users into tireless killing machines for a few minutes. Behind it is Love, a theatrical and dangerous scientist-criminal whom Akhilan believed he had finished. He returns to Malaysia with a young officer to stop him. Vikram plays both the hero and the villain, and his portrayal of the flamboyant, gender-fluid Love was the film's big talking point. Nayanthara and Nithya Menen co-star, Harris Jayaraj composed the songs, and much of the film was shot in Malaysia.
