Parag Dixit has a steady job, a loving girlfriend and a bright future, until a night out with his flatmate ends in a police raid, a drug seizure and a shoot-out. Parag is arrested along with him and sent to jail as an undertrial. Inside, he must learn the rules of a crowded, brutal world of gangs, corrupt staff and endless court dates, guided by Nawab, an older inmate who has seen it all, while his girlfriend Mansi fights to keep his case alive outside. Madhur Bhandarkar, known for issue-based films such as Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion, researched Indian prison life for the film. The devotional song "Daata Sun Le" was sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
