Jeevana Jyothi (1975)

Jeevana Jyothi is a 1975 Telugu family drama from K. Viswanath, one of the most respected directors in Indian cinema. Vanisri plays a woman whose deep attachment to a child, after a loss of her own, becomes the centre of her life, and Sobhan Babu plays her husband. The story follows how that love, at first a comfort to everyone, becomes a source of conflict when the child's place in the family is questioned. Viswanath treats the subject with his customary sensitivity, and K. V. Mahadevan's music supports the emotions. The story was later remade in Hindi as Sanjog (1985) with Jaya Prada and Jeetendra.
