Jija Ji (2006)

Jija Ji ("Brother-in-law") is a Punjabi comedy written, directed by and starring Jaspal Bhatti, the satirist famous for his television shows Flop Show and Ulta Pulta, which skewered corruption and everyday absurdities. In this film he applies his deadpan humour to family relations, the respect owed to a son-in-law and the small schemes that go on inside a Punjabi household. Bhatti's comedy relies on gentle satire rather than slapstick, and the film is a chance to see his style at feature length.
