Jim Button and the Wild 13 (2020)

Back on the tiny island of Lummerland, young Jim Button and the engine driver Luke are once again needed: the fearsome pirate gang the Wild 13 is terrorising the seas. With their locomotive Emma turned into a boat, the two friends set out on a voyage through storms and strange lands, and Jim comes closer to discovering where he really came from. The film is the sequel to Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver (2018) and is based on Michael Ende's much-loved second Jim Button novel. Director Dennis Gansel brings back the same leads and fills the adventure with large-scale visual effects, a rare thing for a German family film, while keeping the gentle humour of the books.
