Julayi (2012)

Ravi is bright, broke and convinced that hard work is for suckers; his honest father despairs of him. On the night he bets everything on a cricket match, he gets a lift from a stranger, works out that the man is part of a gang about to rob a bank of hundreds of crores, and tips off the police. The robbery is foiled, but Bittu, the gang's ruthless leader, escapes, and from then on Ravi and the people around him become targets in a duel of wits and fists. Julayi ("rascal") was the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and writer-director Trivikram Srinivas, who later teamed again on S/O Satyamurthy and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Trivikram's quick, quotable dialogue, Devi Sri Prasad's songs and Sonu Sood's menacing villain made it one of the big Telugu hits of 2012.
