In a drought-hit village in Ramanathapuram, Ranasingam is a spirited young man who fights for his community's water rights and marries Ariyanachi, a strong-willed woman. Poverty pushes him to take a job in the Middle East, and one day the news arrives that he has died there. What follows is Ariyanachi's long and exhausting struggle with embassies, officials, politicians and paperwork to get his body back, a fight that becomes a portrait of how ordinary people are treated by the powerful. The debut film of director P. Virumaandi, it gives Aishwarya Rajesh one of her strongest roles, with Vijay Sethupathi in an extended part as the husband. Because of the pandemic it went straight to a home-viewing release in 2020.
