Ramalingam and Sundaralingam grew up together in an orphanage, and now help support it with little money and a lot of nerve. To win the women they have fallen for, and to raise funds for the orphanage, they pass themselves off as wealthy men, with one pretending to be the other's employer. As families get involved, the deceptions multiply: fake fathers, borrowed houses and a chain of impersonations that threaten to come crashing down. Kaathala Kaathala is a fast-paced comedy of errors from the team behind Kamal Haasan's earlier comedy Michael Madana Kama Rajan, director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and writer Crazy Mohan, with Prabhu Deva matching Kamal joke for joke and dance for dance.
