Kaavalan (2011)

Bhoominathan reveres Muthuramalingam, a respected strongman who once helped his family, and gladly takes the job of bodyguard to his daughter Meera when she goes to college. Meera finds his constant presence unbearable and, to distract him, starts calling him on the phone as a mystery admirer. The prank turns into something real on both sides, but neither her father's pride nor the rules of loyalty leave room for such a love. Kaavalan is Siddique's Tamil remake of his own Malayalam hit Bodyguard (2010) starring Dileep, which he later remade in Hindi with Salman Khan as Bodyguard (2011). Released for Pongal 2011, it was a hit and was praised for showing Vijay in a softer, more comic role than his usual action films.
