A spirited young man falls for a girl and sets out to win her in the face of every obstacle, from an angry family to violent rivals, in a story full of rhyming dialogue, emotional speeches and songs. T. Rajendar wrote, directed, scored and appeared in the film, as he did in nearly all his work, and made it to launch his son Silambarasan, who had acted as a child in his father's films, as a romantic lead. It was also an early role for Charmy Kaur, who went on to a long career in Telugu cinema. Kadhal Azhivathillai ('love never dies') is a classic T. Rajendar production, loud, sentimental and devoted to the idea of undying love.
