Kalasipalya (2004)

Kalasipalya is a 2004 Kannada action film directed by Om Prakash Rao, named after a busy, crowded market area of old Bangalore. Darshan plays a rough-edged young man from the neighbourhood, loyal to his friends and quick with his fists, who falls in love with a well-brought-up young woman played by Rakshita. Their romance, and his clash with powerful local rowdies, sets off a chain of violent confrontations. The film was one of the hits that established Darshan, later known as Challenging Star, as a leading mass hero in Kannada cinema, and its songs and punchy dialogues were popular.
