Kalathur Gramam (2017)

Kalathur Gramam is a rugged Tamil village drama about a settlement on the margins that the authorities regard with suspicion, and about the people who live with that label. Kishore, the actor known for intense roles in films such as Polladhavan and Aadukalam, leads the cast as a villager whose life over the years is shaped by violence, police pressure and loyalty to his own people, with Yagna Shetty in the female lead. The film is told on a broad canvas, following its characters across time, and its rural setting is central to the mood. Its music is by Ilaiyaraaja, whose score is one of the film's main attractions. The Hindi version circulates as Gaon Ka Gunda.
