Raghava is a grown man who still cannot go out after dark, a source of endless jokes for his family. After he plays cricket on a haunted ground, strange things start happening at home, and his mother and sister-in-law slowly realise that a spirit has entered him. The spirit is Kanchana, a transgender woman who raised and cared for others and was murdered by a powerful man for her land. The film moves between broad comedy and real horror, and Kanchana's story is told with surprising tenderness. R. Sarathkumar, known for macho roles, won wide praise for playing Kanchana. The film is the second in Raghava Lawrence's Muni series and was remade in Hindi as Laxmii (2020) with Akshay Kumar.
