Karpukkarasi (1957)

Karpukkarasi ("queen of chastity") is a 1957 Tamil drama directed by A. S. A. Sami, starring Gemini Ganesan and Savitri, the real-life couple who were among the most popular screen pairs of the period, with M. K. Radha in support. As the title suggests, the story is a melodrama about a woman's fidelity and the trials she faces, in the moral, song-filled style of Tamil cinema of the 1950s.
