A smooth-talking young man arrives in town and sets about winning the heart of a young woman whose brother is a tough police officer. But he has a hidden reason for being there, linked to powerful and corrupt men. When the truth emerges the film shifts from romantic comedy into mass action, with Vishal taking on a large network of villains. Kaththi Sandai ("knife fight") is a typical masala entertainer from Suraj, director of Padikkadavan and Maappillai, and was much publicised as the comeback film of comedy legend Vadivelu after a long break. Tamannaah plays the heroine and Hiphop Tamizha composed the music.
